Three Steps Back

Last night was not so good. Brandt woke up at 10pm, 12am, 2am, and 3am ... and which point I brought my pillow & blanket into the room and slept next to his bed. Until he woke up for the day at 5:45am. He NEVER sleeps past 6am ... ever. I honestly have no idea what to do. A crib tent won't work because our crib is a weird size, and I don't know if a baby gate at the door would work because his room has double doors. As for the Benadryl option, I don't know what dose to give him because the box says to ask a doctor for kids under 6 and I don't want them to think I'm drugging my kid.

And I feel like all we're doing now is reinforcing this behavior, because he knows that when he gets up we have to carry him back to bed and put him back. And if we leave the room before he falls back asleep he will get back up and follow us. But I don't know how else to handle this ... we can't just ignore him when he's standing next to our bed saying, "Mom! Daddy!"

He's not sleeping well, we're not sleeping and it's getting old fast.

You poor thing!!!! I think the Benadryl dose is 1/2 tsp, but it is not a sure thing!! Tyler has been waking up EVERY NIGHT in the middle of the night for three days, and I am about to lose my mind. We take her elephant, "Ellie", away and we don't give it back to her until she puts her head on her pillow, if she cries or yells again, we take it away again! IT IS SUCH A PAIN, but at least it only occurs one time, I cannot imagine more! I would be flipping out! Could you put one of those child proof locks on the outside of the door and set it before you go to bed, that way, at least he couldn't get out! At this moment in time, I am sooooooooooo thankful that my kids never climbed out of their cribs. Jackson still does not get out of bed in the morning until we go in and get him. I love that kid, he was such a good baby, and I mean a gem! If Tyler had been my first, NO WAY would I have more children!

My sister just had a baby and can't wait for her to sleep through the night so that she can get more sleep-she should read our blogs, she would know it NEVER ENDS!!!!!!

If you want to e-mail me for my phone number, you can call and vent. I totally understand! shakakan23@aol.com
