Chubby McChunkster

Lillian is apparently short and fat, according to the growth charts ... which I know don't really mean anything in the long run. She is 12 pounds and in the 75th percentile for weight, but only 22 inches which is 25-50th percentile for height.

Oh, she's also at risk for getting a FLAT HEAD!! Craptastic. I guess it has to do with the muscles in her neck and possible trauma from birth, because now she favors one side and doesn't really like to turn her head to the right. I also tend to hold her in the same position for HOURS ON END during the night (see here & here), so that might contribute to the potential flatness. Now I'm supposed to do neck exercises with her several times a day to get her used to turning her head to the right. And I'm going to make a conscious effort to stop holding her the same way that I have been. And more tummy time, and possibly introduce the Bumbo if her neck control is good. The doctor is optimistic that "we caught it early" so she hopefully won't end up in a helmet. Dear God, a HELMET!! For crying out loud ...

I had a friend whose daughter had the same issue. Considering how diligent you are with everything baby, you should be fine! She is adorable!
