Just Like Britney Spears

My car died on Saturday afternoon, which wouldn't have been a big deal except that me, my husband, and my 18 month-old son were stranded at 2:45 on a sweltering Tucson summer day. Luckily my sister-in-law lives really close to where the car died, so she came and gave us a jump start.

We managed to get ourselves down the road to a Checker Auto Parts store, which turned out to be a useless endeavor. Joe was standing in the heat with his head under the hood trying to get the corroded battery terminal off so we could take the battery out of the car. This went on for 20+ minutes or so, while my sister-in-law graciously held Brandt inside her car with A/C blasting. At least he wasn't sweating his buns off. Then my sister-in-law suggests that she give Brandt and me a ride to the birthday party we were on our way to before the car died.

Hmmmm ... I have never taken Brandt's car seat out of the car because I had it professionally installed and I was scared I would screw it up.

But ... the party we were going to was a small neighborhood block away and we could take side streets the whole way there.

Ok, I decide to hold Brandt on my lap while my sister-in-law drives about 18mph to the party. No big deal. We get there in fine, although 40 minutes late. I did feel kind of bad leaving Joe to deal with the car while I was enjoying a nice glass of wine at the party, but it was better than Brandt and I standing around in the heat waiting for him to get done.

Short story long, the alternator on my car died so that's why it wouldn't start. We got it fixed Sunday and it's all better now. Although when I told my dad that I held Brandt on my lap in the car he said, "Ah! Just like Britney Spears."

Thanks for that.

OMG! It is like my worst nightmare! I always see people standing on the side of the road after their accidents, and I think, I would just be pissed that I am standing on the side of the road, in the heat, with my two kids, BLAH! Soooo sorry, but GLAD that you had someone to help!
