We had a pretty good time hanging out with Brandt and family. Saturday morning we took Brandt to an Easter Egg Hunt, the same event from last year, except this year it was about 35 degrees cooler. It was freezing cold and windy, but luckily I had planned a bit better than last year and I made sure to get there early to sign Brandt up for the first hunt. Last year we didn't get there early and ended up waiting around for almost 2 hours. So we got there a little before 11am, Brandt hunted for eggs and then we went to McDonald's for lunch with my sister-in-law and her two boys. Brandt then took over a 2 hour nap :) When he woke up I started steaming some eggs so we could decorate them. Brandt really had fun dipping the eggs in the dye.
On Sunday we went to my mother-in-law's for brunch and another egg hunt. By this time Brandt seemed to understand the concept of searching for eggs and putting them in his bucket. He kept saying, "another one?" so we started taking some that he already collected out of his bucket and re-hiding them.
That afternoon my parents came over and we made a ham dinner with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, steamed carrots, and salad. My dad had a couple beers and Joe had a few bloody mary's (since it was The Masters and all) so I decided I wanted a drink, too. I got out a martini glass, poured some Perrier & cranberry juice and put a slice of pineapple in it. Not exactly the same, but the martini glass helped. After dinner we all had some of the carrot cake I had made ... yum.
All in all it was a nice weekend, although the past three nights Brandt hasn't slept well so I'm a little worried that he might be getting sick. He's gotten up on average of three times, and Joe mostly goes in there with him so I can sleep (so wonderful). Hopefully he feels better soon.
