Sick Days

I don't get them ... ever. I mean unless I was seriously ill and on the verge of going to the hospital I might get to have a day to myself to rest, but other than that random scenario I don't get a day to myself.

I'm a little bitter right now, so this post might sound a tad angry.

I'm also tired of hearing about people who have children that sleep. That's not comforting to me, when my son has been waking up 1-3 times a night for the past month and thinks 4:30am is an acceptable morning wake up time. So when you tell me that your kid sleeps until 7am or later, my first reaction is to punch you in the face.

I was miserably sick yesterday ... sicker than I have been in a long time. I had a hard time sleeping that night and woke up with dull & achy pains in my back and abdomen. So of course I called my OB's office but the nurse didn't sound too concerned and just told me to rest, not go to work that night and to drink a lot of fluid. My father in law was soooo wonderful to come over for an hour between 11-12pm for me to lay down, and right has he got here I felt it. My mouth started watering and I knew I wouldn't be able to prevent it, so I ran to the bathroom and threw up for about 10 minutes. Nice.

I didn't have much of an appetite the rest of the day but managed to eat a couple pieces of toast. Brandt was AWESOME because he did take a good nap yesterday ... just over 3 hours. This never happens, so I'm pretty sure God was looking out for me that afternoon. But then he woke up twice last night and was up for the day at 4:30am, so needless to say, I have been awake since then as well. And I'm cranky.

I'm open to suggestions about toddler sleep issues. Just as long as you don't tell me how wonderfully your kid sleeps, because I'm on the verge right now.

Oh, and I think I might have changed my mind about having another baby ... I'm not sure I'm cut out for the lack of sleep thing all over again.

This post is cracking me up! I love the reference to punching someone in the face, that makes me laugh. That's my reaction all the freaking time these days, maybe it is the heat getting to me, and I am not even preggo!

I am so sorry about being sick. I always beg for the doctor to check me in to the hospital so that I can get some rest, but then I forget they interrupt you like EVERY freaking twelve minutes to take a temp or blood pressure! Since being in ghetto PV for my appendix, I have less desire to go to the hospital, and more desire to go to a deserted island. It is probably cheaper to go to Hawaii then it is to get your appendix removed.

Hang in there. I have no suggestions. My kids are waking up earlier because of the sun, and I put them to bed around 6 now because I figure they are going to wake up early anyway! I like my evenings, and I can deal with the mornings if I have my alone time at night. Judge me if you may, but I love my alone time.

My sister-in-law told me the same thing, about putting him to bed earlier ... she even said 6pm. Does this work for you? How do you do it? I would love to try but I think my husband might protest.

It TOTALLY works for me, I have done 6! Just bump up dinner, bathtime, bed time, etc. I am sure your husband wouldn't mind if you were more relaxed and could have a nice quiet dinner after Brandt is in bed! OR, when he is sleeping through the night, LOL!!! It may not work, but seriously, I will take the sleep, whenever I can get it! HA!

So another question for you ... I know you have said you are very scheduled when it comes to your kids. What is a typical daily schedule for you? I try to keep Brandt in a predictable routine, but I'm always curious what other people do to see if I can improve.

They wake up at 6ish, eat breakfast, have a snack around 9, lunch 11, nap 1, snack around 3, dinner 5, bath, bed

If things get a little messed up, they can pretty much deal with it now because they are older, but I rarely mess with it! RARELY! Sometimes I will skip a bath here and there, but I think it really calms them down, I skipped afternoon snack the other day because I wanted them to be really hungry when we were out to dinner and SIT AND EAT, things like that! I am a scheduled freak! AND NOW, I wish I wasn't! In my next life!

I'm pretty "scheduled" too:

6-7 a.m.-wake up, give Connor juice, give him bfast (while he's watching morning t.v.)

8:30ish-depart for some activity, sometimes gym, sometimes park.

11ish-lunch

noon-nap

2-3 p.m.-Connor gets up and has a snack a diluted juice sippy

5:30 p.m.-dinner

7 p.m.-milk sippy and t.v. until bath at 7:30 p.m.

8 p.m.-bed

8:15 p.m.-Mom's Jack and Coke. :)
